Description
Matchbox Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a thatched roof. The original layout was a two-unit plan, and the building is a single storey with an attic. The front has a two-window range of 19th-century style casement windows set under wooden lintels. There are similar casement windows in the attic, positioned under eyebrow dormers. A central 19th-century plank door is also located under a wooden lintel. Brick stacks are present at both ends of the cottage, and there are single-storey extensions at the rear. While the interior has not been inspected, it likely contains remnants of an open fireplace, which is now blocked.
