Description

Nos. 3, 7, and 9 Church Street are three houses with origins in the early 18th century, primarily developed in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. They are constructed from squared coursed limestone and feature roofs made of Collyweston and Welsh slate. The houses originally followed a two-unit plan, forming an irregular L-shaped range and standing two storeys high.

No. 3 has a two-window range with casement windows featuring glazing bars on the first floor, a sash window on the left side of the ground floor, and a 20th-century casement window on the right side. All windows are set beneath gauged stone heads. The central entrance is a six-panel door, also under a similar stone head, and there is evidence of a blocked door to the right.

No. 7 also has a two-window range, with sash windows that include glazing bars, positioned under stone lintels with keyblocks. Its central entrance features a four-panel door beneath a similar lintel. Both houses have Welsh slate roofs and brick stacks at the ridge and ends. There is evidence of two separate builds between the facades of Nos. 3 and 7.

No. 9 is attached at a right angle to the rear of No. 7 and features a two-window range of 19th-century casements under wooden lintels. Its central entrance consists of a plank door, also under a wooden lintel. This house has a Collyweston slate roof and brick stacks at the ends. Although the interiors were not inspected, they are noted to have spine beams. The group is included for its collective architectural value.
