Description

The Titchmarsh War Memorial is a 3-meter high sandstone cross located in the south-east corner of the churchyard of St Mary the Virgin. It features a wheel cross head on a tapering shaft that rises from a square plinth. The plinth is set on a two-stepped octagonal base. Inscriptions on the plinth are in relief and read "IN HONOUR OF THE MEN OF/ TITCHMARSH WHO FOUGHT/ AND DIED IN WAR/ 1914-1919 1939-1945/ (NAMES)." Additional names are inscribed on the other faces of the plinth, listing 24 names for the First World War and four for the Second World War.
