Description

The Old Rectory is a rectory, now a house, built around 1861. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with ashlar banding and features a Collyweston slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and consists of two and three storeys. The main front has five bays, with the centre and right-hand bays projecting forward and topped with gables. The central bay rises to three storeys and includes a central four-light canted bay window with stone mullions, flanked by two-light stone-mullion windows with transoms, all featuring Caernarvon-head lights. There are single-light windows with stone surrounds on the first floor and a two-light stone-mullion window on the second floor. To the right, there is a large three-light Early English style staircase window. The gables have ashlar parapets and kneelers, with ashlar stacks at the ridge and ends. Attached to the left is a seven-storey, three-bay range that resembles the main range, with the centre bay also breaking forward with a gable. The entrance front, located to the right of the main front, features a part-glazed door to the left with an Early English arch-head surround. Above the gable, there is a three-light oriel window with Caernarvon-head lights. The garden front is similar to the main front. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have a staircase rising around an open well.
