Description

This building consists of a barn and a cottage located to the north-west of Number 4 (Dove House), along with witchert walls that face Townside. The structure dates from the early 18th century and features a timber-framed barn with weatherboard cladding. The east elevation of the cottage and part of its south elevation are made with brick infill panels. The roof is thatched, hipped towards the road, and has a half-hip for the cottage. There is also a two-bay, two-storey witchert addition that connects the cottage to Dove House.

The barn has six bays, with the fifth bay from the road now serving as a games room, and the sixth bay converted into the cottage, which includes an additional bay beyond a brick stack. The south elevation features a cart door in the fourth bay from the east, leaded windows in the games room bay, and brick infill above. The cottage bays have leaded casements and two thatched projections. The east gable also has leaded casements. The barn's roof includes curved principal trusses and raking wall struts.

On the road elevation to the west, the barn is constructed of witchert and roughcast, with central cast doors. A high witchert wall extends north and south along Townside, built on a rubble plinth and topped with pantile copings. At the south end of this wall, there is a hipped thatched garden room.
