Description

This is a 17th-century dovecote located to the southwest of number 4, Dove House. The dovecote is circular and constructed of rubble stone, topped with a conical roof of old tiles and a cupola. A brick-dressed doorway, with a wooden door, is situated in the north elevation. Above the door is a perching board and a dovehole, with another opening to the east. Internally, there’s a floor at half the height of the structure, and the nest boxes are built into the walling above this level. The roof structure features curved principals rising from short ties. The interior contains nest boxes. The dovecote is documented in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments and is a designated monument.
