Description
Maitland House is a house dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The rear part is timber-framed, while the front block is made of witchert, which is colourwashed and roughcast. The building features old tile roofs and consists of three bays and two storeys. At the rear of the north bay is a timber-framed section, likely originally part of Yolsum farmhouse. The central entrance has a six-panel door with a two-light leaded casement window above it. The outer bays contain three-light leaded casements. There are drip moulds over the door and windows, with dentil eaves and gable verges, and brick gables. Flanking stacks are present. The rear northwest wing has a stone ground floor, some timber-framing on the upper floor, and a timber-framed gable. Inside, the timber-framing is exposed, featuring a straight wall plate and tie beam braces, as well as chamfered spine beams.
