Description
This is a house dating from the 17th century, with an 18th-century east wing, located in Haddenham. The building is constructed with wichter – a traditional building material – and rendered over a rubble plinth. Brick quoins are visible on the right side of the front elevation. The roofs are covered with old tiles.
The main range is two storeys plus an attic, with two bays, while a crosswing projects westward. The crosswing is one-and-a-half storeys high and has a brick gable above a band course. The gabled wing features three-light leaded casement windows, with a two-light window on its return. The front of the main range has a doorway and a three-light casement window above it. Further casement windows are visible at the rear, and the rear wing incorporates two two-light ground floor casements, along with two gabled three-light eaves dormers. All windows are leaded.
The main range contains a 17th-century north stack constructed of old thin bricks with a cornice cap. The south gable has a rubblestone stack, weathered on the east side, with a brick flue. Inside, the ground and first floor ceilings feature chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. Stone fireplaces with depressed plain arches are found on the ground floor. The 18th-century wing contains curved principal trusses.
