Description

Fern Farm is a house dating from the 17th century. It is constructed primarily of wattle and daub (wichert), with some rendered areas and colourwashing. The roof is thatched and half-hipped. The house has three bays and a 1½-storey layout. The front features a board door situated between the left-hand bays, in front of a stack, indicating a lobby entry plan. Leaded mullioned and transomed two-light casement windows are present in the left bays. The right bay has a board door on its left side, along with three eaves dormers. The right gable is timber-framed with rubble infill, while the left gable is colourwashed and rendered. A 17th-century brick stack is located between the left bays and along the right ridge. Inside, the house includes an inglenook fireplace and spinebeams which are chamfered with run-out stops.
