Description
Old Hadden is a house dating from the early 17th century. It is timber-framed with brick infill, including some herringbone patterns, and features an old tile roof. There is a witchert outbuilding to the west with applied framing and brick infill. The house consists of three bays and two storeys, with a two-bay west wing that is set forward of the main front. At the rear, there is a range of single-storey outbuildings.
The front of the house has a board door located between the left-hand bays, which forms a lobby-entry plan. The windows are leaded casements, with three lights in the main sections and single light casements in the gable angle of the west wing, along with a three-light front casement. The stack between the left-hand bays features diagonally set flues, and the right gable has a single diagonally set flue. The east gable elevation was formerly jettied over Stockwell but is now underbuilt in coursed limestone rubble. The outbuilding range has a tile roof and is also slated, with a tiled lean-to across the eastern part of the rear of the house.
