Description
West End Cottage is an 18th-century cottage located on the north side of Church Lane in Chearsley. The building is constructed of witchert, which is colourwashed and rendered on the front and sides, and features a slate roof. It has two storeys and two bays, with a single-storey east wing. The entrance is an off-centre six-panel flush door, which is topped by a gabled hood supported by cut brackets and added corner posts. The cottage has barred casement windows, with a three-light window in the left bay and a two-light window in the right bay. The right-hand wing has a hipped roof and modern casements. The left gable features a thin brick stack with a painted rubblestone lower part, while the right gable is timber framed. The original slate roof replaced an earlier covering, likely tile. Inside, there is a chamfered fireplace lintel and stop-chamfered spine beams.
