Description

Farthing Cottage is a 17th-century cottage with a 20th-century addition. It is timber-framed with colourwashed brick and plaster infill, and has a thatched roof. The cottage originally had two bays and is one-and-a-half storeys high. There is a blocked central door, along with two-light horizontal sliding sashes and two-light eyebrow windows. A one-and-a-half storey addition with a half-hipped roof covered in old tiles is located to the right, featuring colourwashed render and a door. A timber-framed rear wing is also present. The cottage is noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments, Volume 1, page 87, and is documented in the Monument Record as number 4.
