Description
Walnut Orchard is a house dating from the 17th century, 18th century, and the 1970s. The east wing is 17th century, timber-framed with colourwashed infill at the rear and gable, and coursed rubblestone on the street and gable wall. The west wing is early 18th century, constructed of chequer brick with a stone lower part on the street gable wall. There is a modern gabled north wing made of brick. The building features old tile roofs. The east wing has one bay and two storeys, with a two-light casement window that has brick reveals and a timber lintel. It has a half-hipped gable with a chimney. The west wing is two storeys with an attic and three bays, featuring a rubblestone plinth with a moulded brick string. The central door is topped with a hood on brackets. The windows are cross-windows with staff moulded edges and timber lights, and there is a band course. Inside, the right-hand ground floor room has a heavily moulded spine beam and a massive chamfered fireplace lintel.
