Description
Elder Tree Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with additions made in the 1930s. The original structure is timber framed with plastered infill and has thatched roofs. It consists of a two-bay, two-storey section, which is complemented by a southeast wing that is two bays and two storeys, built in stone with a rendered upper floor and two-light leaded casement windows. The front facing the street features a false jettied gabled addition with planted timber framing and plastered infill, along with a tile-roofed lean-to on its left side. The original part of the house has a central door on the garden or southwest front, which is sheltered by a modern thatched porch. The windows include leaded two-light casements, with some located in the roof. There is a 17th-century stack on the right side and another stack to the right of the 1930s bays. Inside, the cottage features chamfered and stopped spine beams, as well as a chamfered and stopped fireplace lintel.
