Description
Old Sawpit Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that has been altered over time. The south front is made of colourwashed rubblestone, while the north front features a timber-framed first floor and a brick ground floor. The cottage has three bays and is 1½ storeys high. The eastern bay, which is closest to the road, was modified around 1982 and is finished in colourwashed render. The roof is covered with old tiles.
The north side has a door and mostly two-light casement windows. The south front includes two gabled dormers, each with two-light windows. The modern bay has extended eaves and a three-light oriel window facing south. The east gable features a glazed door flanked by casements, along with two-light casements in the gable. On the west side, there is a large rubblestone chimney stack that shows signs of weathering and has dressed quoins, with a brick flue.
