Description

This building consists of a cottage and an attached barn, located approximately 10 meters east of Number 20, known as Greentop Farm. The cottage dates from the mid-17th century, while the barn may be even older and was originally timber-framed, later clad in stone likely in the early 18th century. The exterior features thin coursed rubble and a stone slate roof.

The two-storey cottage is situated to the left of the barn and has a single-cell layout with quoins on the right side. It includes a doorway with composite jambs and a moulded surround, along with a 4-light double-chamfered mullioned window on each floor, although both windows are missing two mullions. The cottage has a coped gable on the left and a ridge stack at the junction with the barn, which has three bays and a single aisle. The barn features a modern boarded cart entry in the first bay, and there is a lean-to on the right that is walled continuously with the front. The rear of the barn has a long sloping roof interrupted by a low gabled wing to the right of a window with a wooden lintel. The cottage is set back and displays a gable with the ends of the purlins visible.

Inside the cottage, the housebody includes a stop-chamfered spine beam and floor joists, along with a wide segmental-arched fireplace featuring voussoirs and skewbacks. In the barn, the posts rest on padstones, with straight braces visible to the tie-beam and wall-plate, although the trusses are not visible. There is a braced tie to the aisle.

At the time of the last survey, the building was in a dilapidated condition.
