Description
No. 13 Fartown is a house built in the late 18th century, constructed from hammer-dressed stone featuring decorative 'V' tooled panels and topped with a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and follows a 2-cell end-lobby entry plan, which is double depth. It displays quoins and sill bands, and all windows are framed with plain stone surrounds that have decoratively-tooled central panels, retaining their original 2-pane sashes. The first cell includes small sash windows and a 2-light flat-faced mullioned window above. The second cell features a 3-light window to the left of the doorway, with tie-stone jambs and a 2-light window above. The house has shaped gutter brackets and a coped gable with shaped kneelers, along with a ridge stack on the right and another stack on the ridge. The rear of the house has a lean-to on the ground floor and a 3-light window on the first floor of the second cell.
Inside, the house contains a single spine-beam, an elaborate polished marble fireplace, and a large original corner cupboard with arch-headed doors. The cupboard has raised-and-fielded panels, flanked by fluted pilasters, a dentil cornice, and ogee-shaped shelves.
