16-22, BROADWAY

Nos 16 to 22 on Broadway in Amersham are 16th century buildings that feature timber framing with colourwashed brick infill and an old tile roof. They have a stack with three diagonal shafts at the west end and stand two storeys high. The west end includes a high carriage arch with a moulded beam above it, and there is a double hung sash window situated over the arch. The flank walls display exposed timber framing.

The front includes a half glazed door and a shop window with a small fascia and cornice above. To the left of the arch, there is a blocked door and a wooden oriel window. A modern shop window is also present to the left. On the first floor, there are two three-light casements and a double hung sash window on the left.

At the rear, there is a gabled wing above the carriage arch, which is timber framed with brick and plaster infill. The east side features three rendered and painted gables, with the third gable merging into a two-storey brick wing, which is No 22.
