Description
Selby House, located at No 14 Amersham Broadway, is a building that dates from the 18th century but features a refronting of earlier fabric. It is constructed of red brick with an old tile roof and stands two storeys tall. The building has a plinth and a first-floor band. The ground floor includes a modern shop window on the left, a central four-panel door with a hood supported by brackets, and sash windows on the right that lack glazing bars, all set beneath a cambered arch. The first floor has two similar windows and a central recess, all under wooden lintels. The rear elevation reveals exposed timber framing with painted brick infill, featuring three casement windows on the first floor and a lean-to addition on the ground floor. This building is continuous with the lower part of No 12 Griffin Hotel. Notably, C16 wall paintings were uncovered in the interior during renovations in 1962.
