Description
Nos 41 and 43 on High Street are 16th century buildings that are timber-framed and plastered. They have two storeys and attics, with roofs covered in red plain tiles. The buildings feature a modern shopfront and modern gables at the rear. There is a four-window range with double-hung sashes that have glazing bars in carved frames. At the west end, there is a carriage arch that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, which includes sole and arcade bracing with perpendicular arcature and knee braces. The buildings are jettied to the north and south. Inside, there is at least one moulded ceiling beam. Additionally, there is a late 16th century detached outbuilding at the rear, which is now a dwelling. This outbuilding is also timber-framed and plastered, featuring side purlins.
