Toll House Adjacent To Cookham Bridge

The toll house adjacent to Cookham Bridge is an early 19th-century structure that underwent significant refurbishment in the early 1980s. It is built of brick, featuring a rendered band course on the first floor, and has a slate roof with angle tiles. The building is octagonal in shape and stands two storeys tall, characterized by plain angle pilasters and dentil eaves. The windows are three-pane sashes, which were renewed in the 20th century, with some panels being blind and featuring vitreous headers. On the east side, there is a 20th-century panelled door and steps, accompanied by 20th-century iron railings leading to the first floor at road level. The south side has a similar door at ground level.
