Description

The Tarry Stone is a large, irregularly shaped sarsen stone located on the east side of Sutton Road in Cookham. It formerly marked the boundary of the grounds of the Abbot of Cirencester and is believed to have been associated with sports events in Cookham before the year 1507. Originally, the stone stood 50 yards to the north-north-east and was moved to its current position by the Parish Council in 1909.
