Description

Wisteria Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of brick with vitreous headers and has an old tile gabled roof. The house has a double-depth plan. The front elevation has two storeys and four bays. It features sash windows with glazing bars, set in flush architraves on the first floor, and brick reveals on the ground floor; all windows have gauged brick arches. A moulded brick string runs at first-floor level, and there is a moulded wood eaves cornice with carved acanthus modillions. The entrance door, situated in the second bay from the left, is a six-panel door with a moulded and fielded design, a wooden surround, and a pedimented hood supported by console brackets. At the rear, chimneys are topped with clay pots. A single-storey carport is located on the left-hand side; it likely originally served as a byre, and has been significantly altered with an old tile gabled roof, and is considered of no special interest.
