Description
Nos 21 and 23 on High Street in Wendover are shops that were formerly part of the Kings Head Inn, dating back to the 17th century and altered over time. The building features a timber frame with colourwashed stucco on the front and an old tile roof that has two gables on the left-hand side and a steeply pitched three-bay section on the right-hand side, which includes three 19th-century chimneys, two of which are rendered.
The structure is two storeys tall. The ground floor has a projecting shop front, with the left-hand bay featuring a balustraded parapet and the right-hand half having a small tiled roof, both supported by wooden posts. On the first floor, there are three-light casement windows in each of the gables on the left, along with a deeper three-light casement in the central bay. The right-hand bays have both three-light and two-light casements. There is a door with a hood on brackets to the left side of the ground floor.
The left flank wall has been rebuilt in 20th-century brick below, with tile hanging above. At the rear, there is a wing built in the 19th century, constructed of flint and brick with a slate roof, and it is one and a half storeys high.
