Description

Bosworth House is a house that was once part of a single range with No. 25. It dates back to the 16th century and has been altered over time. The building is timber framed with brick infill and has been refaced on the ground floor. It features an old tile roof with chimneys at each end; the left-hand stack has diagonal shafts, while the right-hand stack has three circular shafts on a moulded base. There are two small gabled dormers and the house is two storeys with an attic, displaying two bays of tripartite sashes with large panes and brick soldier arches. The central entrance door has six panels and a narrow rectangular fanlight with a simple architrave.

Inside, the ground floor has chamfered beams, and the right-hand room contains a rebuilt fireplace and 17th-century panelling that has been relocated from the left-hand first-floor room. On the first floor, the left room features fragments of wall painting from the third quarter of the 16th century, including remnants of two panels depicting birds in foliage and painting on one window post. The right-hand room has a large brick fireplace with a moulded, Tudor-arched surround. In the attic, there is a fireplace with a flattened elliptical arch at the right end, and the roof structure includes collared trusses with struts and principal rafters, two tiers of butt purlins, and pegged common rafters.
