Description
No. 6 Pound Street is a cottage that is part of a row of buildings. It dates back to the 15th century and features a cruck construction, with alterations made in the 17th century. The exterior is faced in early 19th-century flint and brick, topped with an old tile roof. There are two brick chimneys at the rear and two gabled eaves dormers at the front. The cottage is one and a half storeys tall and has two bays with three-light wood casement windows that have segmental arched heads. In the center, there is a half-glazed door with a small cornice hood, while a boarded door on the left leads to an open passage. In this passage, the lower section of a cruck truss is visible against the party wall with No. 8, and heavy original joists are exposed in the ceiling. Inside, there are three cruck trusses with large blades that are elbowed in form and cut off above the collars.
