Description
No 54 on High Street is a shop that dates from the 17th to early 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th and 20th centuries. The right gable features tile-hanging over a timber frame, while the front was rebuilt in the 19th century using red brick with cogged eaves. The ground floor has been changed to accommodate a 20th-century shop front. The building has a tiled roof and a partly rendered brick chimney on the left side. It has a front range with two wings that are at right angles to the rear and stands two storeys tall. The first floor has four bays of 19th-century sash windows with cambered heads. Inside, the upper storey reveals timber framing in the rear wall, along with partitions and the rear wings. The roof includes diagonal wind-braces. The ground floor has been completely altered.
