Description
Nos. 25 and 27 High Street is a shop and house that originally dates from the 17th to early 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. Inside, there are some traces of timber framing, but the building has mostly been rebuilt in brick, which is whitewashed at the front and pebble-dashed and tile-hung on the rear gables. The roof is tiled and dates from the 20th century. The building has two storeys. The two lower bays on the left feature dentil eaves; the left bay has whitewashed render with a three-light wooden casement window above the entry to the rear yard, while the centre bay has a sash window above a 20th-century shop front. The taller bay on the right includes an attic storey, offset eaves, and a stump of a brick chimney with grouped shafts at the rear right. There is a four-pane sash window with a segmental head on the first floor, and a 20th-century shop front below. The building is included for its group value.
