Description

The buildings at 1, 3, and 4 Queen’s Square consist of a pair of small houses (numbers 3 and 4) and a later extension. The core of the houses dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The right-hand bays retain a timber frame, although the front wall of these bays was largely rebuilt in the 19th century using brick, which has been colourwashed. A further brick extension marks the left-hand bay. The roof is tiled, and brick chimneys rise from the original bays. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. The right-hand bays have 20th-century bow windows on the ground floor, with a door featuring a segmental head on the left. The centre bay has single- and two-light wooden casement windows on the first floor, while the right-hand bay has single- and three-light wooden casement windows above. The left-hand bay has a small single light window on the first floor and a boarded door with a segmental head. The interior of the right-hand bay contains stop-chamfered joists and chamfered spine beams.
