Description
Nos. 46 and 48 High Street is a house and shop that dates from the 17th to early 18th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century. The left gable features a mix of rendered and whitewashed surfaces, along with tile-hanging, possibly hiding a timber frame. The building was refronted in the late 18th century using vitreous header bricks, complemented by red brick quoins and window surrounds. It has a moulded red brick cornice beneath a dentilled parapet and a chamfered brick plinth. The roof is tiled and from the 20th century, with a brick chimney located to the left of the center. The structure is two storeys high with an attic and consists of two bays plus a central half bay. The first floor has 19th-century tripartite sashes with cambered heads, and there is a single sash without glazing bars in the center of the first floor. The ground floor features a 20th-century shop front in the right bay and center. At the rear, there is a whitewashed brick wing.
