Description

Briar Thatch is a cottage dating from the 17th to early 18th century. It features a timber frame with whitewashed plastered infill and a thatched roof, which has flanking chimneys that are roughly rendered and whitewashed. The building is 1½ storeys high and consists of two main bays.

On the ground floor, there are barred wooden casements, with a three-light window on the left and a two-light window on the right. The first floor has a similar two-light casement on the left and a paired leaded casement on the right, both beneath thatch eyebrows. A central 20th-century door is set within a timber gabled porch, and there is a single barred staircase window to the right. To the right of the main structure, there is a small lower extension that has a similar single window. The rear of the cottage includes one paired leaded casement and 20th-century extensions.
