Description

Tarney Fors Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with later additions and alterations. It features coursed rubblestone and a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of two bays, with a two-bay addition to the left that has a later rear outshut.

The main part of the house has quoins and a central boarded door with an untooled lintel and a projecting slate above. This door is flanked on each floor by 16-pane sash windows, which also have glazing bars, untooled lintels, and cills. There are end stacks on either side. The addition has a doorway on the right that is now blocked and a window, while on the left side, there is a window on each floor with untooled stone lintels and projecting cills. The ground-floor window has two lights, one being a casement and the other a boarded larder window. On the first floor, there is a fixed 16-pane window, with one pane opening. There is an end stack to the left of the addition.

At the rear, there are multipane windows with stone lintels and cills, while the outshut is not of special interest. The right return shows through-stones to the masonry. Inside, the farmhouse has stone flag floors and a stone stair in the addition. The building is marked on the Ordnance Survey map as Tarney Force.
