Description
Low Houses Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1614, with late 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of rendered rubble and has a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of four bays. In the second bay, there is a four-panel door set in a quoined ashlar chamfered surround, featuring a triangular soffit to the lintel inscribed with "AN:DO:1614" and "F A" on the spandrels, along with a hood-mould. The fourth bay contains a two-light double-chamfered mullion window with a hood-mould. The other windows are six-pane casements with slab lintels. A stack is located between the first and second bays. The left return gable wall has been demolished for rebuilding, revealing very large quoins. The farmhouse is included for its group value.
