Description
This building is a barn, now functioning as a workshop, located approximately 5 meters west of Craggs Hill in Dent. It dates from the 19th century and was undergoing renovation or conversion at the time of inspection in September 1994. The barn is constructed from watershot coursed mixed rubble with small quoins and features a stone slate roof on the main range, with slate on the outshut. It has a rectangular plan aligned on an east-west axis, with an added outshut featuring a catslide roof along the south side.
The north front of the barn includes a large segmental-headed wagon doorway at the center, flanked by quoined jambs and rubble voussoirs, with a floating drip-course above. There are small square breathers and two slit breathers to the left of the doorway. The east gable wall, which faces the house, has three shippon doorways with rectangular lintels and a continuous dripcourse above them. It also features small square breathers on two levels and an arched owl-hole in the gable. The end of the outshut has a doorway to the left, a window to the right, and another window above that. The interior was not inspected.
