Description

STAINFORTH SILVERDALE ROAD SD 86 NW (east side) 2/32 Neals Ing Farmhouse II Farmhouse. c1835 by G Webster in Jacobean style. Slobbered rubble brought to course, stone dressings, stone slate roof. 2 storeys 3 bays. Recessed central bay between gabled outer bays has projecting porch with Tudor arch and hoodmould with pendant stops; two shields between hoodmould and cornice; panelled door in Gothic Revival style. 2 light chamfered window on upper floor with cavetto mullions and transoms; hoodmould. Outer bays have similar windows: 3 lights on ground floor and 2 on upper floor with single light in gables; all have hood- moulds and wooden casements except gable windows which have sashes without glazing bars. The gables have coping and 3 finials with pendants. Longitudinal section of cross roof supports 4 massive ridge stacks each with 3 stacks set diagonally. To left and right is single storey 1 bay extension in similar style mid-late C19. Interior: crosswalls rise to roof apex. Decoration in Gothic Revival style. Described in notice to let of 1835 as "newly built".
