Description
Kern Knotts Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage located in Stainforth, dated 1684 with 20th-century alterations. The building features slobbered rubble brought to course, stone dressings, and a slate roof. It is two storeys high and has three bays. The central entrance has a moulded surround and a decorated lintel inscribed with the letter "F," leading to a six-panel door.
On the ground floor, the left-hand side has a two-light chamfered mullioned window with an early 20th-century casement and fixed light, while the right side has a similar window but with a missing mullion and a casement from around 1970. The upper floor has three windows; the central window was originally a three-light double chamfered mullioned window but now retains only one mullion, reset to create two lights with an early 20th-century casement and fixed light. The outer two windows were originally two-light double chamfered windows, but their mullions are now missing. The cottage has gable end ridge stacks.
