Description

Abbey Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1800, although the date stone on the west gable is not decipherable. It is constructed of red brick and features a black glazed pantile roof. The building is two storeys high with attics over the north range and has a T-shaped plan. The south facade is symmetrical with three bays, featuring sash windows with glazing bars set under rubbed brick arches. The central doorway has an open-pedimented doorcase, a semicircular fanlight with radial glazing bars, and a panelled reveal. The door itself is a six-panelled design with the two upper panels glazed. The gables have parapets and internal stacks, while the eaves are adorned with brick dentils. The north range includes 2 and 4-light 20th-century casements with glazing bars, and the openings have flat gauged arches. There are two panelled entrance doors on the west side, and the eaves here also feature dentil brickwork. An off-centre chimney is located on the ridge line, and there is a catslide extension on the east side with two flat-roofed attic dormers.
