Description
Top Barn is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century and later. It is constructed of red brick and features a black glazed pantile roof with gable ends. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a range of eight first-floor windows that are irregularly spaced. The windows are six-light casements with segmental heads, although some ground floor openings have been blocked or altered.
There is a central porch with a hipped roof and a segmental-headed opening, along with a small four-light window above the porch. On the right side, there is a projecting bay with a hipped slate roof, and two brick pilasters with moulded capitals are located to the right of the porch. The farmhouse has ridge chimney stacks that are centrally placed and at the gable ends. It features three gabled dormers with two-light casements, and the west gable has 20th-century casements.
At the northeast corner, there is a lower gabled outshut, possibly a staircase bay, which includes a leaded light. Additionally, there is a catslide lean-to on the north side with sash windows that do not have glazing bars, as well as 20th-century casements.
