Description
White House Farm House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century and late 18th century, constructed of red brick with a thatched roof. The building has an 'L' shaped plan and stands two storeys high, with the earlier range located to the north. The principal facade faces south and features three windows along with a central part-glazed panel door. The door is framed by a timber doorcase that includes pilasters, an entablature, and a cornice. The windows are sash style with glazing bars and segmental brick arches above them. There is a blocked window with a semi-circular brick arch in the west gable wall at ground floor level. The gables have parapets with end stacks.
The rear range shows evidence of brickwork from several periods, including a section of plinth made of moulded plinth bricks and re-used stone blocks. This section also has three windows and a raised and fielded six-panel door with a plain timber doorcase. Most of the windows are late 19th century casements, while one first-floor window at the south end features crown glass in leaded lights. The house has three eyebrow dormers, each with semi-circular three-light casement windows. Two axial stacks align with the parapets of the former external gables, and the northern gable is from the early 18th century, displaying brick tumbling in its construction.
