Description

Ferry Farm is a farmhouse that has been divided into three separate units. It dates back to the early 17th century and features a 'T' shaped plan with two storeys and attics. The building was extended and altered in the 18th century, which included a continuous rear outshut to the north, and in the 19th century, a two-storey extension was added to the northwest. The south facade has three two-storey bay windows from the 20th century, and there are single-storey outshuts with slate roofs to the north and west.

The original 17th-century house is aligned on an east-west axis with a cross wing to the west. Notable architectural features include three Purbeck marble shafts with associated column caps and bases built into the southwest gable wall. The windows are a mix of 20th-century casements, and there is a doorcase on the south side with panelled reveals, an architrave, and fluted pilasters, although the cornice has been removed. The western bay windows display 17th-century flintwork and brick.

The east gable has 20th-century casements inserted into a 17th-century opening at the attic floor level, along with a blocked 17th-century opening at the first-floor level. The west gable wall features a 19th-century asymmetric arrangement of windows and doors, with a platband at both the attic and first-floor levels. The attic has a three-light window with wrought iron casement and leaded lights. To the north of the gable, there is a 19th-century first-floor canted bay with a sash window that includes margin lights and glazing bars. The south side has three eyebrow dormers, each with three-light casement windows.
