Description
Horning Ferry Mill is a mid-19th century smock draining mill. It is constructed of timber and has an octagonal shape, rising three storeys high. The mill is set on an octagonal weatherboarded base that is one storey tall. The sloping weatherboarded sides lead up to a boat-shaped cap. The stocks, sails, and fantail blades are entirely false and date from the late 20th century. However, the original structure remains intact inside, including the cap, frame, and centering wheels. The brakewheel is present, but the upright shaft and turbine pump are missing. This mill is included in the listing for its rarity as a smock mill.
