Description
The Hollyhocks is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century, with some minor later alterations. It is constructed of red brick with brick dressings and features a plain tile roof, which has a brick coped gable on the west side and brick gable stacks. The building has a sawtooth eaves band and stands two storeys high, plus garrets, with a total of three bays.
The central entrance features a segment-headed doorcase with a 20th-century glazed door and a divided overlight. This doorcase is flanked by wide segment-headed windows; the window to the east has a three-light horizontal sliding sash with glazing bars, while the window to the west has an uneven glazing bar sash. Above the entrance, there is a narrow horizontal sliding sash window with glazing bars, set below a cambered head. On either side of this window, there are wide cambered-headed openings, with the eastern side featuring an uneven glazing bar sash and the western side having a three-light horizontal sliding sash.
