Description
Brookside is a cottage dating back to the 16th century, which was heavily rebuilt in the 18th century and extended in the 19th century. The main structure is timber-frame, now largely concealed by colourwashed brick, with rendered brick additions. The roof is covered in old plain tiles. The cottage originally comprised two bays, with a further bay added to the front of the left bay in the 19th century. The 19th-century bay features a gable that projects on the right side and includes a 20th-century brick porch with a Tudor-style door. Within the gable are two narrow 19th-century sash windows, an upper 20th-century 2-light window, and a bargeboard. The right bay of the timber frame is rendered and contains a 20th-century 3-light casement window, with a 20th-century 2-light gabled dormer above. The roof is half-hipped to the left and hipped to the right. A rebuilt 17th-century chimney stack is located centrally, and a further 18th-century stack is situated on the right hip.
