Description

No. 48 College Street is an early 18th-century front applied to a 17th-century or earlier building. It features a high-pitched tiled roof, hipped to the right and partially concealed by a parapet. The building is constructed of red brick with a diaper pattern of blue headers, and has a galleted stone plinth. Brick angle pilasters and a slightly projecting central section are present. A cornice band and parapet are now stuccoed. There is a recessed panel above the central door. Restored sash windows with glazing bars are set within near-flush, box frames, each with a segmental brick arch. A substantial external chimney is located on the south wall.
