Description

No. 5 High Street is an 18th century fronted house built on an earlier timber frame, featuring details from around 1840. The building is constructed of red brick and has modern red tile hipped roofs. It is two storeys tall and has a symmetrical design. The central round-headed doorway is adorned with a leaded fan and panelled reveals, framed by enriched pilasters and an architrave. On the first floor, there are three 19th century sash windows with rubbed brick lintels. The exterior is finished with a rosette and modillion cornice, topped by a cement parapet. Inside, the rear ground floor room reveals exposed early 17th century timber framing.
