Description

Park View Cottage is a cottage dating from the 15th century and 16th century, which was restored in the 1980s. It features a timber-frame structure with colourwashed brick infill and a thatched roof. The building consists of a 15th-century three-bay hall house with a 16th-century bay added to the upper end. It is 1½ storeys high and has four bays, with the main timber-frame members exposed. There is a 20th-century door at the right end of the 15th-century section, and beyond it, there are five 20th-century two-light casements. Above the bay, there is a 20th-century eyebrow gable built on the wallplate, which includes a three-light casement. The roof is half-hipped and features an 18th-century projecting stack on the left hip. Inside, the long central bays are open to the roof and showcase smoke-blackened arch-braced trusses. One end bay is floored over with a 16th-century floor.
