Description
This is a row of cottages dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Originally, part of the row was timber-framed with brick infill, while the remainder was constructed of flint with brick detailing, all covered by a thatched roof. The arrangement is two bays of timber-frame construction on the right, and four bays of flint construction to the left, with each cottage originally comprising two bays and two storeys. A 20th-century door and a low-pitched roof porch are situated to the left of the timber-frame section. Doors are present at each end of the flint cottages, and there are 20th-century doors with gabled, open porches positioned centrally between the doors on either side. Other original doors have been replaced with tall 20th-century windows. Each bay features a 20th-century two-light casement window, with segmental brick arches over the openings in the 18th-century part. The upper floor of the timber-frame cottage has two irregular two-light casements, while the upper floor of the flint cottages has three-light 20th-century casements. The roof is half-hipped with a decorative ridge piece. There are small chimney stacks on the right hip and at the left end of the timber-frame section, and a larger chimney stack is located between the bays of the other cottages.
