Description
The Old Rectory is a house that was formerly a rectory, built in the 18th century. It features a combination of flint and brick dressings, with part of the first floor being tile-hung and a thatched roof. The building consists of two sections from different periods: a mid-18th century two-bay structure on the right and a late 18th century three-bay structure with a lower ridge, forming an L-shape with a wing extending to the rear on the left. There are 20th-century additions to this wing and to the rear of the earlier section.
The inner bay of the right part has a 6-panelled door with top lights, which is 18th century and is set beneath a 20th-century flat hood supported by brick piers. To the right of this door is a late 18th century 12-pane sash window, and above it are two mid-18th century 12-pane sashes, with full-height brick piers at either end. The other section of the house features three late 18th century Gothic panel casements with two and three lights, along with three similar two-light casements on the first floor. There are brick bands at the top and bottom of the windows. The roof is half-hipped on the right side and hipped on the left. The earlier part has gable end stacks, while the later part has a stack located behind the ridge to the left of center.
