Description
Godwins Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse, largely refaced in the 18th century. It has a timber-frame core and is constructed of brick, with an old, plain tile roof. The main block is three bays wide, with set-back lean-tos at each end, and stands two storeys high with an attic over a cellar, and a plinth. The central door is 18th century, with six panels and a top light, set within a heavy frame and topped with a two-light rectangular fanlight. A 19th-century timber porch with octagonal columns supports a full entablature and a pediment covered with lead sits before the door. Two 19th-century four-pane sash windows with segmental brick arches are visible on the front. A first-floor string course runs along the front. Above, three 19th-century four-paned sash windows have timber lintels, and the eaves are rendered. Two hipped dormers with two-light casements are set into the roof. A large 18th-century external brick stack is visible at the left-hand end, and a gable stack is located at the right.
