Description

This is a mid-19th century warehouse known as Stricklands Warehouse, located on Railway Lane in Lewes. The building features a high red brick base with a cobble plinth, supporting a timber frame that is clad in slate. Inside, there is a cast-iron frame. The slate roof has wide overhanging eaves on the eastern gable, and there is a gabled hoist-house on the western gable topped with a weather-vane. The warehouse has three storeys, with four windows on each side and two on the gabled ends. The windows are iron-framed casements fitted with mesh covers. There are four doorways on the eastern side facing the river, one on each floor and one in the gable, all of which are boarded. Additionally, there are three doorways under the western gable, with two of them located in the plinth.
